Research and HMI flow

For this project I made a night light to solve the problems of needing light to walk a short distance at night.

The primary pain point is bedrooms where it is difficult to access a light switch at night.

Reference images from the internet

I experimented with different ways to mount the light for easy motion detecting. I developed designs for adjustable clamps and a removable face for battery access.

Low Fidelity Prototype & Initial CAD

I settled on a design that hangs on the edge of a bedside table using adjustable clamps.

I also added an additional off button in case of accidental activation.
